Casting lab

Supervisor: Bruce Anglade
Technician: Francis Ventura

The casting lab is intended to implement standard techniques of achieving as aluminum cast.

It is used for lab classes all along the curriculum in the department of mechanical engineering:

  • Bachelor: senior year
  • M1: first year of the master
  • M2: master for faculty training
The resources available in the laboratory are:
  • shared resources: a furnace for melting aluminum, an oven, finally trimming devices.
  • tooling for the manufacture of sand molds: pattern plates, frames, a device for sizing of the sand, a vibration compacting machine.
  • shell casting tools: complete tooling, Diecasting, burners.
  • rapid prototyping tool (lost wax casting): resin printing device, chassis and a vacuum casting machine
